How to Play Poople

Change one letter at a time until the starting word becomes POOP.

The rules

  1. Every day at 08:00 UTC Poople picks a new 4-letter starting word.
  2. Change exactly one letter at a time. Each new word must be in the Poople word list (2,398 words).
  3. Reach POOP in as few steps as you can. The goal, in the game's own words: "Can you find the shortest path?"

RISE → ROSE → POSE → POME → POMP → POOP

Tips

Work backwards. These words are one step from POOP: BOOP, COOP, GOOP, HOOP, LOOP, PLOP, POMP, POOF, POOL, POOR, PROP. Aim for any of them.

Of the 30 puzzles on this site, the shortest path took between 5 and 10 steps, most often 5. If you are past that, check whether an earlier word could go a shorter way.
